With the year 2010 fading in the rear view mirror, it is a good time to take a look at a few of the major things that occurred at North American Die Casting Association (NADCA) in 2010. These items will set the direction for 2011 and beyond for NADCA and its membership.
While most plastics are capable of being recycled, the infrastructure for such recycling is far from being in place. While many early recycling efforts among consumers have met with cooperation, end results to date have not been promising.
Nearly all metals — and die castings in particular — have always been readily recyclable. Die castings are not hazardous waste and pose no problems in handling or reprocessing, as do some non-metallics.
One of the issues we all face today and is becoming more popular in all areas of the globe is to make parts that are considered “green” and able to be recycled more readily than other manufactured components.
